About Us
Originally, James studied at Croydon Art College and Lisa studied at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design, they both went on to study at the Faculty of Art and Design of Lancashire University, where they first met. James studied Three Dimensional Design and Lisa studied Graphic Design. After spending several years back in South London, property developing and starting up their own business 'J L Woodward lamps', they relocated to Wales in 2001.
James's and Lisa's experience of property refurbishment combined with their passion for Art and Design made the conversion of 'Ty Menyn' a real labour of love! Local materials were sourced, re-cycling paid a major part in this conversion, where ever possible various materials were re-used to help retain the character and charm of the old buildings. With their creative skills, attention to detail and support of highly skilled local trades and craftsmen, these former semi-derelict outbuildings have been transformed both internally and externally to a very high standard. One of the major considerations throughout was the practicality and comfort for visitors, ensuring their needs and requirements were met. 'Ty Menyn Holiday cottage' was opened in 2009 having been awarded a five star rating with Visit Wales.
"We love 'Llandeilo', it's such a beautiful and inspiring area to live in, we feel fortunate to be able to bring up our family here. We are pleased to be able to share our growing knowledge and appreciation of the area with our visitors and hope 'Ty Menyn' will attract many from far and wide" - James and Lisa Woodward
